Tree down on allegheny trail at 22nd st

The windstorm today took down a tree and its now blocking the allegheny trail at about 22nd st. I emailed bike-pgh about it, hopefully they can find somebody to get rid of it. I think you would need at least a handsaw to cut it apart, then move it. The tree appears to have been weakened by a bunch of those kudzu vines.

Thanks

All I need is an excuse to ride into town with my chainsaw strapped to my rack. That would make my commute interesting.

Just cut off your right hand and attach. See: evil dead 2 and army of darkness.

Allegheny Trail? Is that the Northside/northshore, the strip district or the Southside trail? I've notified FOTR. They'll get someone on it ASAP.

There is also a mattress along the jail trail between the hot metal bridge and Birmingham bridge. It is on the grass, as if someone tossed it off of the parkway outbound. It is not on the paved trail.

The tree has been cleared. Was there on my morning ride towards town, and cleared when I returned a few hours later.

@Stef - I also saw that mattress, kind of surprising considering the amount of camera's on that stretch of the parkway.

Imagine riding down the trail when suddenly a queen size mattress goes airborne and lands that close to you!

Ah! Just in time for my late-mid-morning nap!

You're assuming that it was put there intentionally.

I'd be willing to bet it was a snapped string or rope from some dimwit cruising down the parkway. If you ever drive in LA, you'll notice the amount of freeway furniture, most of which is unsecured cargo "liberating itself" from pickup trucks.

Yep, that's the image I had in mind. Something flying off AND UP from a vehicle, soaring 10 or so feet above, then plummeting to a satisfying THUMP a few feet from your handlebars. Better wake-up than coffee.

It was a disgusting old mattress. I didn't notice either way on my return home yesterday if it was still there.
