vintage schwinn question

hello everyone. i recently bought an old schwinn typhoon and i'm wondering if anyone can help nme identify the year it was made. the serial number is located on the left rear dropout and it appears to read B30768, although there may be another number or letter before the B that has been obscured by wear from the axle nut, or maybe it's just a scratch. i've consulted a few websites without much luck. can anyone out there help me?

The other mark is probably just a mark, as the number you gave is proper format for a schwinn number.

B30768 on a left rear dropout makes it a 1952 made between February 12th and 19th.

@robdlc -- Completely out of curiosity, how do you know that with that kind of precision? Is there some kind of a master listing around? Or do you just have magic voodoo powers?

Sounds like you got it. But also, Kraynick's would be good. I have a Schwinn from the 70s...and he can tell me off the top of his head what size screws are in it. Seriously.
