There was chatter of a velodrome in Brownsville way back in 2006.

I can't imagine any better way to revitalize the lower Hill. Cyclists coming and going would really help to friendly up the neighborhood.

...OK, I can think of maybe 2 or 3 better ways, all of which are only slightly more likely to happen than a velodrome in the Civic Arena.

They could call it the Major Taylor Velodrome, and get the kids interested in track cycling and the history of one of --if not the --first African American superstar athlete. Build up a huge track program..revive the Six-day in the U.S. and...

What's that? My alarm clock? It's time to get up? But I was having such a nice dream..

Maybe it is just me... but a velodrome in the middle of nowhere on the Yough doesn't seem like the best location...

although I did see a sweet gang of bmxers skidding their rear tires as we passed each other the last time I was on the trail

Seems to me that if there was a Velodrome next to a sweet B&B, an easy day's ride from Pittsburgh, I'd love it.

Particularly if they, say, misused it and had music festivals there.

[Before my alarm goes off, let's contemplate the 2022 TENTH annual bicycle band festival....]

No, but it's pretty easy for developers to get grants/loans/tax breaks by building somewhere like that. Asking the gub'mint to build a velodrome in the Civic Arena would probably be met with laughs.
