What I did last night...

Last night, I volunteered for BikePGH manning a table at Pitt's Student Union. They were giving out free food, so there were tons of incoming freshman waiting in line--we were along the line, so there was no avoiding us.

I've done things like this before (not for BikePGH), and it is almost always boring.

However, last night was a BLAST. I was teamed up with Ian E. and a guy named Levi (who I had never met but knew about the blood bike).

We handed out a TON of maps (we ran out in under an hour) and Commuting 101 guides (don't call it a Commuting 101 guide to out-of-state freshman, because they defensively tell you they are not commuters and are living in *insert Pitt dorm name*). We talked about bikes, bike safety, bike rights, bike responsibilities, and awesome group rides like Flock of Cycles.

So, if you have never volunteered for BikePGH or have been on the fence about it, DO IT! You'll have a great time (even if you have hear Ian tel people "This isn't a bike, it's a fitness club on two wheels" 1091823 times).

One better than Ian's wacky nature: providing complementary rides on a tall bike with speakers setup on a trainer?

Trainer? Think rollers...that'll be a crowd pleaser.

a tall bike on rollers sounded like such a good idea, i figured someone had to have tried it before, and i was correct.

and that led me to this video, among others. why don't we have more of this here?
