Nothing to offer here, I'm afraid.
Once you have it built up, where do you plan on riding?
Hi there! I am looking for a 49cm steel frame that I can build up as a touring bike.
I'd like it to have mounts for cantilever brakes.
Let me know if you have anything! Thanks.

cant vouch for this guy in any way but i came across this posting the other day: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/bik/1317333046.html
might be worth checking some of them out?
maggie: thanks for the help. not sure about those.. not exactly what i'm looking for. but i appreciate you posting the link.
wsh6232: with this bike, i have a few different ideas.
1. i only own a bianchi san jose single speed, which i LOVE and have been riding in pittsburgh for about four years, so i'd like another bike (geared) for some versatility when commuting.
2. i am starting to feel more comfortable with mechanics, so i want to build a bike to help me learn more.
3. i've been bouncing around ideas of touring somewhere in central or south america with a friend during winter of next year. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that i get to do this! i'll be sure to post about it once i have a better idea of where i'll be going. whether or not i do that trip, i want the option of being able to do long trips.
Thought: look for a high-endish mountain bike from the pre-suspension era; they're not terribly different from touring bikes except for the handlebars and the 26" wheels mean they'll fit well in a 49. You could even swap in drops or a mustache or something if you want to be creative, and you might get beautiful '80s splatter paint too.
alankhg - good idea! sometimes those come into free ride- i'll keep my eyes peeled.
What size bike tire are you most likely to find in Central America?
