Hey all, So hopefully I'll be back on my ankle in two weeks and will need to be rehabbing my ankle as well as getting back into cycling shape.
I want to buy a trainer to help facilitate this. I usually use rollers but probably won't have the form or ankle strength to get back on them for a bit.
So who wants to sell me or recommend me a quality fluid or magnetic trainer? I'd like something that feels relatively smooth, I usually hate the way trainers feel.
Ted, I have 2 trainers sitting around that you can borrow - a CycleOps and a Tacx. The latter is smoother and probably better for your situation. I don't want to sell them but I don't see myself using them this winter, so someone may as well. If I could borrow rollers to try them out, all the better, as I've been wanting to try them for a few years. Let me know if you are interested.
Yeah, we could do a trade for a bit maybe. I think someone like you would get bored on rollers pretty quick but they are definitely more fun than a trainer.
Sounds good to me. I imagine I can't do a wheelie on rollers, but anything will be better than a fixed trainer.
hmm never tried that one. One trick I can't do is bunny hopping on and off the rollers you could probably do that.
Maybe, maybe not - but I'll save that sort of abuse for my own equipment. I've heard of folks having the worst crashes of their life on rollers! Anyway, I sent an email to your "philly" address re: dropping off the trainers. I'd suggest taking both and see which one you like.

I was given a trainer as a wedding gift and shortly after my Dad gave me a trainer for Christmas. I have no need for two magnetic trainers. I have a Blackburn Mag Trainer for sale for $30 OBO.
