First of all, all of those people riding in the snow are badass, and they are likely just used to it.

Secondly, I can't believe there is no need for helmets! How awesome would it be if it is that safe here?

I did mean to post a warning to sensitive folks that clicking the link would lead to photos of un-helmeted cyclists (gasp).

BTW, in those euro cycling cities people never wore helmets, there was no aha! moment when people suddenly said "oy, it's safe to go without a helmet!". They pushed for safer infrastructure first rather than distracting from the real danger and pushing for helmets (i.e. blaming the victim).

Also, how Danes dress for winter cycling. I'm sure there is lycra in those tights.

I used to read Cycle Chic every day until he shortened his rss feed.

I have never, ever understood how women can wear skirts in winter. I don't care how thick and woolen the tights are, until full length bloomers come back, it's pants for me when it's below 60. I think my legs would fall off if I tried to bike in a skirt in the weather depicted in that photo.

I quite like the original photo. We need some of those on ARB, 376, etc.

I find that if my core is warm when I start out shorts are comfortble down to near 40. It's my fingers and toes that get cold then.
