The print version of the “Pittsburgh Bike Map” that was introduced last year is now available on the Internet at www.bike-pgh.org.

The organization “Bike Pittsburgh” launched the online map as part of National Bike to Work Week. It was funded by the Heinz Endowment and created by DeepLocal, an interdisciplinary new media company formed as a Carnegie Mellon University spin-off enterprise.

The last on-street bike map produced in Pittsburgh was published in 1992, when bicycling and bike routes were a fraction of what they are today. The online version uses technology not possible in print, including the ability to provide expanded information about landmarks and the chance to view routes on certain trails via satellite.
