Ghost Bike Memorial Lockup for Donald Parker TONITE, 5.30.10

This is all so very last minute, as things such as this tend to be, but here is some info about a Ghost Bike Memorial for Donald Parker, who was killed by a truck the other day

Donald Parker, 40 52, husband, father of three, was struck and killed during his commute on the morning of May 27.

Currently, the driver (who police suspect was “distracted”) is not facing any charges for their irresponsibility in causing the death of this man.

Tonight, as a community, we are locking up a ghost bike in his memory. The lock up will take place at 8:30p, close to the scene of the incident, on Harts Run Rd, near the intersection of Doylestown Dorseyville Rd in Indiana Township.

There is a group of cyclists (and other people with cyclists in their lives) who are meeting at Schenley Plaza (Schenley Dr and Forbes, across from the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland) to form a car pool to the lock-up site at 7:30pm.

As a community, we wish to pay our respects, show our support for safe roads for everyone, and take a stand against careless driving.
