Gallerycycle this week!

Car Free Fridays in Lawrenceville

For Car Free Fridays this week Lawrenceville is showing off what they do best . . . Art and Design. They’ll host Pittsburgh’s first ever Gallerycycle; a  bike-related gallery crawl that will connect all three wards by encouraging participants to ride their bikes from one location to the next.

Eleven different stores and galleries will be on the tour. One of the highlights is WildCard who is hosting its first group art show, Strangely Familiar: Uncanny Works on Paper. It will feature works by a Pittsburgh artists including Mary Tremonte, Heidi Tucker, Matt McDowell, Nils Hanczar, Mario Zucca, Berry Breene, Christian Breitkreuz, Mike Budai, Mike Vandegrift, Teresa Martuccio, Thommy Conroy, Tate Hudson, and Jackie McDowell.

The tour is self-guided. Each participating gallery/business will have a bicycle wheel outside of the door denoting their participation. View the online map here. You can also pick up versions you can touch at participating locations.

Two destination were added after the map was printed.

Just Seeds artist collective is located at 3410 Penn Avenue right across from Doughboy Square. Their gallery will be exhibiting RESOURCED, “a portfolio of hand-produced prints which focuses on resource extraction and climate issues, and includes 26 original artist prints. This is an “exhibition in a book,” a teaching tool, a collection of reproducible graphics for activists and organizers, and a dialogue starter for community spaces, schools, conferences, and galleries.”

ClankWorks is a small cycling boutique located at 3401 Butler Street focusing on providing stylish solutions for the modern and design conscious cyclist. We design and manufacture some products in house, as well as working closely with third parties to source additional products.
