Come show support for safer streets on E Ohio St in the Northside

On Wednesday March 4, 2015, PennDOT will be hosting an Open House Informational Meeting about the East Ohio Street Improvement Project in the Northside. The project includes the busy section of E Ohio St near the 16th St Bridge, where there are multiple ramps, exits and entrances that service the bridge, East St and I-279. Upgrades include road reconstruction, traffic signals, pedestrian upgrades, and pavement markings, among others.

East Ohio Street Improvements - Community MeetingThe Department is also evaluating potential bike lanes on E Ohio St.

For this to happen, we need to show neighborhood support for safer, more livable streets. The Northside Leadership Conference Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee are pushing for bike lanes to help bring predictability to the street, and make connections between neighborhoods and onward to the E Ohio business District, the North Shore Trail, 16th St Bridge, and ultimately the Penn Ave Bike Lanes in the Strip District.

During the Open House Public Meeting, the project team will be available to present project details, the anticipated construction schedule, and the proposed detour routes as well as discuss any issues or concerns you might have.
