To add another ten functional art pieces throughout the Cultural District

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is moving forward with their take on the humble bike rack. They just announced that the third phase of their bicycle rack project is soliciting design proposals from artists. The second phase was completed in October 2015 with the addition of ten racks. The Trust invites Pittsburgh-area artists (residents of Allegheny County) to design and develop ten more functional bicycle racks to be located in various locations within the Cultural District.

The deadline for the request for proposals is December 9th, 2016.

Budget:
Each selected artist receives a fee of $4000 to create a unique and functional bicycle rack. This fee covers the costs for design, fabrication, finishing, and transportation of the completed bicycle rack to the installation site. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is responsible for the cost of installation and naming plaques.

Project Timeline:
Request for Proposals deadline is December 9th, 2016
Notification to selected artists is January 30, 2017
Installation of bicycle racks by August 31st, 2017
