BikeFest is Back! – August 10-27
Join Bike Pittsburgh this August for BikeFest, their 13th annual citywide celebration of bicycle culture. BikeFest includes 18 days of over 40 bike-themed events including a BikePGH beer release, BikeFest party, and their 24th annual UPMC Health Plan PedalPGH fundraising ride.
BikeFest highlights include the return of the 90 Neighborhood Ride and new events like the PanHandlebar Tour, Hello – Hill District, and Tour de Taco.
From Thursday, August 10th through Sunday, August 27th, BikeFest will give everyone in Pittsburgh the opportunity to join in with 3 weeks of bicycle themed events. Bike Pittsburgh, a local bike and pedestrian advocacy group, organizes the celebration.
“With so many small cycling groups in Pittsburgh it is sometimes difficult to find the group that is right for you. BikeFest brings together these groups for 18 days of action packed fun. It is a great way to meet new people and try something a little different and celebrate biking in the city.”
– Mike Carroll, Director of Events at BikePGH
To kick things off, Bike Pittsburgh and Grist House are coming together in a mix of hops and spokes to produce a limited edition beer for BikePGH’s 15th anniversary. $1 from each beer sale will go directly towards funding BikePGH to help create safe streets for people biking and walking. The first taste of BikePGH’s Outspoken Unfiltered Session Ale will be available at the Grist House release party on Thursday, August 10th at 4pm.
BikeFest wraps on August 27th with UPMC Health Plan PedalPGH, the region’s largest bike ride, now featuring four routes. New for 2017! The American Cancer Society has been named the official charity partner for UPMC Health Plan PedalPGH.
