Just wondering if anyone is going on this ride. I'll be captaineering our tandem for the 75 mile route. Anyone else?
ACS Bike-A-Thon, August 8th
This (75mi) ride looks like general fun; only two apparent climbs (up from the rivers) and reasonably spaced rest stops.
I was planning to do the "12 Bridges" ride Saturday, but that one look pretty easy (Junction Hollow is the only "climb"). So the ACS ride looks good (well, except for getting up in time).
Isn't there *anyone* on this board involved with setting up this ride who can comment on it?
For real nobody?
I just heard about it Saturday. I googled the event today, but the web site is really lean on useful information - like the route, etc.
if only i could. mornings are not great for me at the moment. have fun!
Where can one sign up? Where's it taking place? Is there a minimum fund raising amount?
Sunday August 8th, $40 minimum. Here is the website where you can sign up http://community.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=26329&pg=entry
I know there isnt a lot of info on there, it seems like its a pretty small ride and not extremely well organized, but it should be fun. I'm on team "Bikes!!!" anyone can join us if they want!
Here is a route map for the 75 mile ride: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/ACS-Bike-A-Thon-75-Mile-Loop-S-Sideworks-and-N-Suburbs
I did it last year (40mi), it was a pretty fun ride with a lot of roads I hadn't ridden on before. I think there were a good number of bikes and it was fairly well organized.
I wanted to do it again this year but I have plans Saturday that are probably going to severely hamper my desire to get up and ride early on Sunday.
