Anyone sold photos to the news before?

As if my day needed anymore excitement the standoff in Oakland was across the parking lot from my place and I just might happen to have some photos/videos of the event...

I rode down Parkview and didn't see anything, though the wife had to drive down Juliet to access our neighborhood.

as someone with a tiny bit of expertise in this subject I'm guessing they probably won't buy them... and they definitely won't by them if they don't get them tonight.

What mark said. There are plenty of other ways for them to get the story, and unless you were on a plane that crash landed in the hudson, no newspaper will give you cash. Occasionally publish and give you credit, but you certainly wont make a buck off of it.

I highly doubt anyone else has videos of the Pittsburgh SWAT team launching 20+ gas rounds and a flashbang into a house lol

I'm guessing that to have a chance to get cash (or even just credit) for a vid, you would have to call a TV station immediately, then meet at their place within half an hour.

I wonder if the resident interviewed in the print article is related to Andy Warhol. He grew up right there, no?

I'm guessing so. She only got 15 seconds, though, not 15 minutes. The interwebs sez Warhol grew up at 3252 Dawson, which is about 4 doors down. Andy's real name is Warhola.

Its not so much whether or not someone else has a photo of a swat team getting into a house, its more about the fact that the photo doesn't make the story and the event isn't big enough to warrant needing those photos. Interviewing anyone involved and getting whatever footage/photos they could is good enough, and their bottom line is already way to steep to bother paying anyone outside of the org for photos. Not to say its not a cool bit of content, but they don't need it.

Even photographers that work for the newspapers/news stations don't make any money.
