April 2012 Flock ride

By some sort of tradition, the Flock rides were originally scheduled for the 2nd-last Friday of each month, the first couple of years that we had them. Anyone up for a 6:00 p.m. ride tomorrow, 4/20? Meet at Dippy?

I should be able to

I'll go, I enjoyed the last informal flock

Meet at 6, or depart at 6?

I was figuring tires on pavement 6:10 at the latest. Figure 10 or 15 miles of light riding around town somewhere then head home.

I am stoked to see people organizing rides. However, to use the Flock name, and have Flock's insurance, the ride needs waivers.

Ruth and Charque have already started planning their own Flock rides:

I encourage anyone interested to do the same. All you really need to do is contact me with a summary of what the ride is and I'll send you a copy of the waiver. Then someone just need to be responsible to get back to us with the waivers and a brief wrap up.

Additionally, the waivers/membership forms this year are good for the whole year at any event wit the Flock name.

What if people just happen to show up at 6 and decide to ride? We did that last month

I think Nick is saying you can ride whenever you want to, but you can't say you're flocking or informally flocking or having a flock-like ride lest his organization be considered accountable. So if you want to use the F word you should get the waivers from Nick.

just have everyone sign a waiver saying the ride is not associated with flock of cycles.

I have the waiver form PDF.

Does this mean Flock isn't riding as much this year and we should look into organizing Flock like but not officially Flock rides.

I will probably hang around Dippy at 6pm if anyone wants to meet up for a slow pace ride.

Tabby is correct. If you want to do rides that have any association with "Flock" or the name, they need waivers. If you don't want to deal with a once-a-year waiver, just don't use the Flock name.

This is purely to protect myself, Rob, Kayla, and the assets of the org.

I would really like to have a few big Flock Parties like last year, but I can't do it by myself...

I will be at Dippy by 6 (pbly a few minutes before) with 20 waivers in hand.

Gah, I didn't have time to nap after work, so I'll have to sit this one out, what with work in the morning and all.

And I've mentioned before that I'd like to help with stuff, but I'm so busy. But, if I end up not getting a second job (or third, really, depending on how you look at it), I might be able to lend a hand here and there. As long as it doesn't involve talking to people individually or as a group. Or at all really. /badanxietyjoke

Nick, what can people do to help?

Yeah, I never got to go to any Flock rides after I moved here last year, but I'd like to have a chance to go to one of the big Flock Parties, so if I can help in some way, I will. I'll be especially willing to do things like that after the semester ends in a couple of weeks, since my summer workload will be pretty light.
