I don't see anything about it on the post gazette site yet, but it looks like a couple of pedestrians were struck today.
Yesterday not good for peds either.
I hope the bicyclist is all right.

Bike accident at EL Blvd & Euclid
A friend of mine texted me ealier today about a bike accident that occurred at the corner of East Liberty blvd and Euclid. I don't know much about it other than she said it looked pretty bad... (As far as I could gather, I don't believe she witnessed it directly, but stopped among those who were first to respond. Does anyone know about this or have news of how the cyclist is doing? I tried perusing the web briefly, but didn't find a report about it.

The dead woman lying on the pavement would seem to be a pretty clear sign, but what do I know?

I guess exiting the Giant Eagle while pushing a shopping cart = coming out of nowhere. The corner of Walnut + Copeland is lined with shops. Who'd think to be looking out for pedestrians there, either?

That Giant Eagle has pretty decent lines of sight too.
Remember that reckless = "careless to the point of being heedless of the consequences" So if somebody just happens to not be paying attention, it isn't legally reckless
They would need to be like driving with sleeping shields over their eyes or something. There has to be a conscious, thought of "ah, what the hell, I don't care what happens"

Oh, I completely understand that's the BS "way it is", but that doesn't make it any less stupid - and it certainly doesn't make the poor lady any less dead.

I called Zone 5 to see if I could get any further info, but they told me they couldn't release information if I wasn't a relative or somehow connected to the individual. I told them I don't know the man who was injured (I'm assuming I don't anyway), but as I go through the intersection everyday, I was curious as to how it happened, but more than anything hoping to learn of the cyclist's condition. The man with whom I spoke said that as far as he knew no one was in a critical state. I am hoping this is accurate.

One of my co-workers who is a nurse cam across the accident on the way to work. She said a femal driver with an infant in the back seat hit the cyclist. His bone was sticking out of his leg and he was rolling around in pain. She said I was awake and able to talk but his leg looked bad.She said The woman in the car was upset and crying. Thats all I know so far the conversation was short, because my co-worker was going home and I was just starting.
