Bike Art

Hey all,

The Evil project (http://fatguyorangebike.blogspot.com/2010/06/my-evil-project-part-2.html) has taken a rather radical change thanks to the inspiration of Yehuda Moon (http://www.yehudamoon.com/index.php?date=2010-07-15) so I will be turning the frame into a piece of Bike Art (at least trying) I have been looking around the interwebs for other examples of bike based art and I was hoping some of you guys out there could point me in some inspirational directions.

I think I'm being called out as a "bicycle bigot."

@bradQ

That was then, this is now, I will admit that, that the frame in question really isn't worth rebuilding.

That being said I still think that the Bike Shaped Objects do both serve a good purpose and can be really useful for opening up the joy of cycling to a lot of people who would never be able to justify spending the kind of money that a good bike would cost.

I am also in the position of realizing now that "Bike Bigot" was an improper term and I will edit the blog. Perhaps Bike Snob (I was thinking of Bike Purist but that is about as negative as bigot)

I do apologize, many of my posts are written on the spur of the moment and in the heat of passion. (as leftofsanity pointed out in a comment that I was putting the biking community in a negative light and that was not my intention.

No hard feelings. It's the common response when people are looking to "fix up" an old toy bicycle and the experienced heads tell them their time and money is best spent elsewhere.

Anyway, I don't know how tall you are but I have a 90% complete, 20" framed Bianchi Auto Milano with 26" coaster brake wheels that is looking for a new home. I'd say if you're 6ft tall or above it will work fine for you. This frame is worth tinkering with.

Edit: Here's a picture of the bike in question.

It doesn't have the fenders or the goofy auto shifter thing on it that didn't work right anyway, but it's a pretty cool bike. I used it with a big basket on the front for a while, but haven't thrown a leg over it in over a year, never used it much to begin with, and need the space in my basement.

I forgot the best part of the deal, the price. Free to anyone from the board (dbacklover w/ first dibs) who wants it and promises to not let it languish in their basement like I have.

yeah Im 6'-2" and would love to have that to tinker with / rebuild. if you want to PM me we can arrange a time/place to pick it up.

Also while I am glad there is no hard feelings I want to thank you for calling me to task. Your simple comment made me go back and re-read what I said and realize that I made some comments that were not called for. When that Happens I try to be honest, Admit my mistakes and fix them. I hope all of you will do the same I have been taken to task several times, when I feel the person is right I admit it.

Brad - You were right.
