good evening, folks!
has anyone ever done bike camping up around erie? i am planning on biking from here to buffalo starting right around october 1, and the last time i did it, i stayed in a hotel in erie. that was fine and all (i reeeeally lucked out and got someone to show me around, and even though the "25 tap beer place" across from the hotel had six different kinds of miller, i really appreciated it), but i'm hoping for a cheaper option this time.
i've been told that hotels on presque isle are only about 30 bucks a night, especially later in the season, but it's hard for me to commit to going 140 miles in one day, especially knowing that i can call for a family member to pick me up at any time.
so does anyone know of any place around there where i can carry a tent and a bunch of clothes and maybe some food and what have you and spend the night out in the wild?
also: does anyone feel like making an early fall (two-day) bike trip to buffalo? stu, i'm looking in your direction...
Hmmmmmm... Gonnahafta give that some serious thought. WNY trees around then are gorgeous!
Mentally & physically I could probably do it. Preparation & planning would be the key. But figuring out the return trip might prove troublesome, though, as well as some personal things I'd need to take care of.
Let's talk off-line about specifics but keep the thread here open to the topic of campsites and other amenities up thataway, and preparation for any long road trip.
