I bought tickets last week -- looking forward to it!
So. Ridiculously. Excited. Husband pinky swore this morning he'd come with, so I could finally buy tix.
that FAQ is hilarious, well done Scott!
Nice, just heard a commercial for this on WDUQ. Go BikePGH!
Sweet article in the PG: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11218/1165628-139-0.stm
I'll be at the party but unfortunately I have to miss all the other events since I'll be out of town.
I've been waffling whether or not to go to the party, but "a Balkan-inspired horn-based dance band" certainly tilts things toward go.
yet another awesome bike event that i will be out of town for. i think i've been out of town for every bikefest kickoff party for the last four years.
bill, i just got a sneak peak of them at Unblurred on Friday. They're great! However, they won't be going on till about 11 or 11:15 so hopefully that doesn't dissuade you.
I can't make it this year but will hopefully be going to the Frick Park party and the bike in movie!
But, Aaagh, will I have to decide between Lungs Face Feet and Flock with Lights?! Aaagh.
^ditto
Can you pay at the door? And renew membership at that time too?
Yes, you can pay at the door. I believe there is a bike-pgh table there too, so you can renew (at least there was last year).
I'm so excited.
That I just can't hide it.
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it.
Just bought my ticket!
You can pay for the party admission at the door and buy or renew a membership there as well.
Can I be super lame, and ask about car parking? We can't bike down, so will be driving, and I've never actually had to park a car down there... Is there any? I'm up for a walk (got me some comfy sparkly shoes), I just don't know where to look. I'm toying with the idea of parking at the Millvale trailhead and biking over, but hubby's not keen on biking back in the dark.
Any suggestions?
@ejwme: Maybe check the route of the Flock With Lights post-party ride for potential parking spots? Perhaps hubby would feel better riding back to the car with a bunch of well-lit Flockers...
reddan, I love that idea, but the FWL is a little bit after our pumpkin time, though I hope to at least see them off (so that, if he's awake, he'll see what he keeps missing out on). Oddly enough he was just down there shopping and called to tell me he found some places he thinks will do, so I'm no longer worried.
I really shouldn't listen to the horror stories on the radio about people who "can't find parking". I know better.
You can park on Penn Ave and most of the side streets. It's a dead zone on Friday nights.
party was teh awesome. Loved the music (SUPER bummed to miss the band), and the guy with the sewing machine totally inspired me.
Very wonderfull to see such a packed house... Wish I could recognize people without their bikes/helmets better.
I sort of wished people wore name tags with their forum name on them.
Does the sewing machine guy have a website? I was surprised he wasn't inviting people to ride his charging bike, or would that shake the machine also?
he was letting people ride it early, before they turned on the speakers near the door and he had to move to the back. Riding for... some surprisingly short amount of time charges his battery for an hour, so he probably just didn't need the help by the time you got to him.
Hubby snagged his card, I'll post the web site when I get home. His home base is in Arizona, and apparently he's riding all over the country. Very awesome.
Maybe they could have name tags at the admission table?
Name tags at the admission table is not the worst idea in the world for people who would want to use them.
I definitely think that would be an awesome idea. You could even remind people they don't have to put their names on if they don't want, they can put anything. Good conversation starters for people who rely too heavily on "nice bike".
