That intersection is AWFUL. I avoid it. I hope the cyclist is ok.

There's also like a gajillion ruts in between all those concrete slabs, which doesn't help

Damn it. Anxiously awaiting news.

Yikes! I just rode my bike on Penn Ave from East End, but when as I approached Penn & Highland saw cop lights flashing, so went instead through Penn Center Circle.

Hope all is fine :( :( :(

FWIW, I'm pretty sure another cyclist was hit on Penn Ave. yesterday, between E. Liberty and 5th Ave, IIRC. Driving by, I saw a cop w/ flashing lights (actually stopped going counter-traffic), a stopped car, and a cyclist on the side of the road. Fortunately, the cyclist (male, milk crate on front) seemed fine. Weirdly around the same time--I'd say 6:30 PM.

Just so sad about this :( That whole stretch of Highland between Center and Home Depot is a disaster yet such an important connector that I have trouble avoiding it.

I try to avoid this as best I can, but it's hard to do without taking a massive detour.

Highland from Center to ELB is like real-world frogger.

Usually on a stretch like that, I would just get on the sidewalk, but so many pedestrians there, it would make me a royal adams apple.

Often I stop and wait on the side of the road for a break in car traffic. Makes it slow though. And doesn't totally stop the risk.
