Did anybody make it to this?

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11161/1152632-53.stm

I don't recall hearing anything about this ahead of time (not like I would have been able to go on a workday at noon), but am wondering if anybody made it to remind them not all transportation is via highway?

Erok and I organized the B-cycle lunch-and-learn with potential funders, planners, and folks from the mayor's office at the same time. We will be submitting comments by next week and have a meeting to discuss what will be in that letter. We will be sure to publicize where you, the public, can send your comments. It would be fantastic to get a groundswell of bike/ped comments to the SPC.

We've posted several times on this board that SPC is accepting comments through 4 p.m. this Friday, June 17th on the 2040 Transportation and Development Plan. Comments to the effect that not all transportation is via highway (as EJWME stated) are most welcome.

Send your throughts and ideas to comments@spcregion.org. You can also fax them to (412) 391-9160.

Comments can be specific to a project or more thematic in nature.

I was at the SPC event, the focus was on how to drive development around the existing public transit system based on where people live and or work.

I don't believe bicycle commuting was mentioned much other than as a pedestrian amenity of transit sites. I suppose this is because they think cyclists tend to either use buses with racks or bike the routes city buses already use(minus the busway of course).

We will most assuredly be submitting comments.

Sorry Sara, I think I confused SPC with SWPC or some other acronym of people who defund public transit regularly. YOU guys are well aware that highways aren't the only things in need of funding, thankfully.

Way too many acronyms, all using the same 26 letters. Apparently Cambodian has 74 letters, which could help their acronym differentiation tremendously.

just read the P-G article... interesting that a question on agriculture came up. Italy has Agritourismo or some-such... basically farms running B&Bs that are supplied by some huge portion by their own farm (like 80% of food served is from that farm, or 90% or whatever). It would be SUPER COOL if that happened on a broader scale over here. It's a major money maker for the Italian farms.
