That's funny, I can't find the opinion in that article, unless it's the last sentence:

"Bicycling is a trend that should be good for the health of the region's riders, but that won't be possible until run-ins with motorized vehicles become far more rare than they have been lately."

And I'm not sure that's all that debatable, it's kind of like saying "orgasms feel good" or "chocolate is yummy". I suppose some of the trolls and ragers would debate it, but not with reason or logic.

It is nice that the opinion, apparently of the paper itself, seems to lean towards accepting bikes as traffic and the need for safer behavior on the road. Two really nice ideas to see taking hold, if honest (and not troll baiting).

"I don't get the "blame the biker mentality" that some drivers express. I drive all over Allegheny County as required by my job. Sometimes I am delayed by a slow-moving car or truck; sometimes I stop for a jay-walking pedestrian; sometimes I slow down and swerve to avoid debris in the road; it's called driving. There have been a few times when I have driven more slowly than I might have until I find area where I can safely pass a cyclist with 4 feet clearance. I don't consider this an inconvenience, just part of living on earth with other people. If you find it too difficult to safely drive on roads used by cyclists, you probably should ride the bus." -Liz Hrenda
