Flock of Flying Creature Bike Parade, part of Highmark First Night 2012

Exciting news! Flock of Cycles will be part of a parade during the Highmark First Night events on New Years Eve in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.

The theme of the bike parade will be flying creatures--wings, feathers, propellers, anything that flys! Decorate your bike, and join the biggest New Years celebration in the city.

Next Sunday, December 11, Cheryl Capezzuti of Studio Capezzuti will be guiding us through the design process of turning our bicycles into flying creatures. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring whatever you’d like to add to the flare! As always, bright colors and lights would be great additions to your bicycle. Helmet decorations are a great idea too!

Bringing your bicycle would be helpful so that you can figure out how to best attach everything to your bike. You will be able to leave your bike “costume” with Cheryl and pick it up on the day of the parade, or you can bring it home after the workshop to continue working on it. Zip ties and such will be provided on the day of the event to make sure your “costume” is secure.

Flock of Cycles will be posting a registration for the decorating workshop soon.

Even if you can’t make it to the decorating workshop, you can still participate in the parade!

(For those wondering, you will be required to sign a waiver releasing liability from Flock of Cycles, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and the City of Pittsburgh)
