Sucks. Friend was hit last night at Neville and Centre. Got hooked also. She's fine and cops said the driver was clearly at fault. Keep your eyes open out there!

Damn, that sucks... x2. Glad both crashes weren't worse. I was just "joking" yesterday about how much better life would be if left turns were illegal.
Getting hit by a car is not and should not be a rite of passage.

W Roger, have a reputable shop check that bike up and down. If you took a hard hit there might be some damage to that frame that isn't easily visible.
Not to hijack, but my friend I mentioned earlier in the thread ended up going back to the hospital today as she wasn't feeling well. She failed all the concussion tests and is now ordered on 48 bed rest.
@ Lou - that's horrible. Keep us posted, please. Is there any way she can update the police report to now reflect injuries sustained in the accident?
I'm sure somehow she could. I believe she's getting in touch with Marc Reisman now.
From my understanding the story is that she was travelling on Neville in the bike lane and the vehicle sped up to pass her to turn right and ended up hoooking her. She hit the brakes but couldn't stop and superman'd onto the hood. Driver claims she was going "too fast". That's all I know as of now. I'm sure getting a lawyer involved will keep things on the downlow.
^ this very thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Traveling south on Graham St in Friendship a giant boat of a car hit the gas in order to pass and right hook me while the light was green. I was preparing to turn left towards Market District so had taken the lane. Fortunately I saw and heard him and braked immediately.
He completed his pass and right turn from the left side of the crosswalk.
I hope W Roger was checked for concussion and is doing all right.
The heat wave has not been helping with anyone's sanity behind the wheel.

Driver (who was in the process of passing a cyclist) claims said cyclist was "going too fast"?
I don't know whether I'm more irritated that idiotic crap like that flows from people's mouths or that the cops et al buy it. On second thought, I guess that is a moot point because I'm mostly irritated that people in cars keep hitting people on bikes.
When I was doored, the guy argued that I was exceeding the "bicycle speed limit" before he got in his fancy sports car and left the scene of the accident. People will make up any excuse to blame the cyclist, even when they know they are at fault.
W roger, I know some good sports medicine guys who can look at you if you are still limping around for a long time.
That would be great.
