Holla at your boy

Someone want to let me know if this comes to town in some fashion?

ROUBAIX!

By far the best race in the world.

I just saw this last night. It's a beautiful love letter to an amazing race. It doesn't give you a ton of background info but it has some mindblowing footage and is well done. My wife really enjoyed it and she said she didn't know about Roubaix till the aughts.

Yeah, that video is sweet. Scott and I talked about showing it during BikeFest last year, but it was nixed for showing Rad! Maybe worth another shot? I believe the Masterlink folks are open to public showings...

I've seen Road to Roubaix on DVD, it's great. I'd definitely go see it on a bigger screen. I'd also like to see Race Across the Sky about the last Leadville 100.

2008 World Champion Allessandro Ballan said it best I think when he said Paris-Roubaix is the race no one wants to ride but everyone wants to win. I'm hoping with Ballan on his team Big George might get his win at the Ronde or Roubaix yet. Is there a better week in Cyling than the Flanders week?

Actually, Ballan's comment is second best. The best is Theo De Rooy in an interview with John Tesh (back when Tesh was a CBS sports guy) Asked about the 1985 race in which he was on the break De Rooy says:

"It's a pile of s**t, this race, it's a whole pile of s**t ... You're working like an animal, you don't have the time to piss and you wet your pants ... You're riding in mud like this and you're slipping and ... it's a pile of s**t, you must clean yourself otherwise you will go mad ... "

Tesh then asks, "Will you ever ride it again?", and DeRooy responds without missing a beat, "Sure, it's the most beautiful race in the world!"

Then they all burst out laughing.

Actually I think it was in the same broadcast as the video @bjanaszek linked above. Although they probably edited it out of the broadcast.

I'm sure Morning Glory would be down to show this on the big screen.

Cool place.

I hadn't watched the trailer when I posted before. The thing is, yeah, bikes are efficient transportation, reduce car culture, livable cities, yadda yadda...

bike racing freakin' rocks.

So...do we wait another month or so and show it just before the actual race runs on 11 April? We could do a double show of Road to Roubaix and a Sunday in Hell....

hell, yes. set it up. kick-off party riding season 0h-ten! Post it to the WPW, Venture Outdoors, REI, cross all platforms. blow it up, as they say. I'm going to stick my neck (or wallet) out, I would pledge 2 cases beer to such a venture.
