I think it should be legal to shoot tailgaters. Especially if and when they hit you. Multiple shots to should be authorized, with a special clause allowing a final or execution (close up!) shot to the face. I bet less people would tailgate...

I have had to use my firearm for self defense. I didn't have to pull the trigger but, by your reasoning, if I had been forced to pull the trigger I should have gone to jail. How long does it take to have a preliminary hearing? Upwards of 30 days? Out of work for a month. Can't pay my bills. Probably would have lost my job. Sure, charges might be dropped after that but that doesn't get me my job back. My credit rating is screwed for having missed a month of payments. Maybe I should have just let him beat me with that baseball bat and hoped that he got tired of beating me before he killed me.
