Looking for a Volunteer Biking Partner for an Older Adult

Hi All, My name is Dahlia and I am a Social Worker in the Pittsburgh area. One of my clients is an avid biker but can no longer bike alone. This gentlemen is in his upper 70’s and is physically able to bike and exercise but would prefer if he had someone to go with. If anyone is interested in biking some trails around the Monroeville area once or twice a month and would like a partner please post. Thanks!

I would be eager to bike with an older person, but Monroeville is way outside my normal riding turf. I think that might be true for a lot of folks here. If he drove into city, it would be a dfferent thing.

At that age, I assume you mean he'd like to ride park roads and rail trails, and not moutain bike trails - right? I'd like to believe that I could be riding into my 70s (and beyond). I'd be willing to give it a shot. For Dahlia's information and consideration, I am a long time cyclist, but not a long distance cyclist. I am a female in my 50s. You can reach me directly at (username) at gmail dot com. Sara

Well, I am not sure about MTB but PMTCC has some people way beyond 60 and riding with club 25-40-60 miles on the road without a problem.

I apologize. I was not making an any observations that the individual in question was incapable of a longer/more strenuous ride. Certainly there are people in his age group who can, and do, cycle at a very high level. I was stating that I - as a potential companion on such rides - would be interested and willing to take on this role if the rides were of a certain type, e.g. park and trail type rides. Based on my time availability, skill sets and general interests, I can't or don't want to do the leadville type rides. At least not as a volunteer companion. Kudos to all those folks who ride well into their 70's and beyond. Double kudos to those who do so at a competitive level. I hope that I fall into at least one of these groups in my lifetime.
