Any personal experience?
Mine are a little warped and I can get along, but it's a little finicky, there's no way to get all the gears free of interference anymore.
The idea has promise, in principle. But, not sure what people's experience is, and certainly not whether the "less finicky" thing applies.
I'd be putting it on my relative fair weather bike, but commuting... it's just me not rolling out with it if it's raining that morning, I do get caught sometimes. Probably seeking to replicate the existing compact 50/34 gearing (that 34/32 spin is so nice on the steeps). I could also get away with a 42 and ditch the front derailer, however there's part of me that's deranged enough to want to do the dirty dozen and for sure I want my 34 if I ever do that.

I've always been curious to experiment (separately) with ovalized chainrings and varying cranklengths, but never had the opportunity to test ride any of them.
I wonder if any of the LBS would be willing to set them up on their bike fitting jigs.

My Miyata 512 from probably 1986 had a Shimano Biopace front oval chainring. It sorta sucked. I bet the technology has improved over the last 30 years, though.
