PA 12-Year Transportation Program Public Hearing, Aug. 25

Saw this article in the Tribune Review.

Pennsylvania routinely updates their long range transportation program, and this is an opportunity to submit comments or speak at the hearing.

Funny though, it's in Cranberry...

Also as a guide, PennDOT has compiled all the projects within their 12-year program into a sweet interactive map. (HERE)

You can query by County (Allegheny), or Planning Partner (SPC/Pittsburgh) to see who, what and where these projects are. Signals, bridge repairs, road widening, pavement markings/reflectors: it's all on the map...

Members of the STC (State Transportation Commission) are appointed by the Governor. They will be holding five such meetings around the State. The Cranberry location is thought to provide reasonable access for residents of most of western PA, so folks from Erie, Mercer, Franklin, etc. are all expected to be there too.

no train, no plane, no bus, no bike and no sidewalk will get you there. at least when Marcosek planned his hearings last year it was scheduled in Monroeville and ACCESS vans were employed.

Pittsburgh is underrepresented on the Commission. As I can recall the only person from Pittsburgh (philly and Johnstown have two) on the Commission is Robert Pease. If he is who I think he is, then he's probably in his mid eighties and operated the URA waaaaaaay back when...

This may have to be an Invasion Of The ZipCars.

Been out on Vacation and just saw this...

This is literally across the street from my office. I'll be walking there (it's the only semi-useful sidewalk in the complex... perhaps in the entire township).

If anybody wants to write me up a script I promise to stick to, I'll be their voice. I think each person gets five minutes, so if two people ask, I'll divide my time evenly, etc. Heck, I wouldn't mind standing up and reading off a list of people who couldn't get there because public transportation here is so ... (this is where someone should give me PC words to use so I am not forcibly removed).

Seriously. You can't make it, have something to say, want me to say it? Will do. FOR ONCE I can actually attend one of these (at least part of it).

OTOH, if anybody wants to spend the day at the meeting, I've got three seats in the car and will pick up/drop off wherever east/north in/around the city. I'll even promise to leave at a reasonable time and get everyone back home after. A car loan for an early return trip could be arranged as well (bumming a ride home at the end of the day is never an issue for me, it's getting there that's tricky).

Not sure if any of that is useful to anybody, but it's about all I can do. Let me know via PM or on here. If anybody thinks of anything else I could do to help anybody with this, let me know that too.

While I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from attending this session.....there is a project abstract form that can be submitted in lieu of personal attendance. I'll dig up the link.

Scott, that pile of comment cards that you submitted to the City would be a great visual at this meeting.....and totally appropriate to submit to the STC.
