Pgh Dutch Festival

Anybody know anything about what this is all about?, specifically:

"Rethinking Cities in the 21st Century

Thursday, April 26 | 8:00 pm | TRUST ARTS EDUCATION CENTER 805/807 Liberty Avenue | Pittsburgh, PA 15222 | Map it!

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust in partnership with the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh

Join creative thinkers from Pittsburgh and Holland to discuss the transformation of urban cities in the 21st century."

The Pgh Cultural Trust is organizing this whole "Dutch Festival" over the next couple of months. Seems like there ought to be some bikes mentioned in there somewhere.

Lou Fineberg of BP and I were introduced to one of the Dutch "leads" on this project late last year. The Dutch Consulate in NY finds that they cover a region that extends west almost to Chicago, but they spend most of their time in Boston, NYC and Philadelphia. Hey wanted to change that, so are working with the Cultural District on this Distinctively Dutch program of events.

When speaking with Arjen, he specifically noted that in days past, when people thought of the Netherlands they thought of wooden shoes and tulips. Today they think of wind turbines and bicyles. At the time that Lou and I met him, he said they were definitely trying to work something "bicycle related" into the program of events.

Maybe we need a wooden shoe ride a la the tweed ride?

I sent out some emails to see if I could find out specifically what the "Rethinking cities" thing is about.

If nothing else there is a gallery crawl at the end of April that would be cool to hit.
