Pittsburgh Technology Center parking

Hi PGH bikers, I need help. I am suppose to go to a meeting Monday morning at the Pittsburgh Technology Council and I am told there are NO bike racks anywhere near the building (Those that work there bring their bikes into their own offices for storage). I am having a hard time believing that there are no bike racks anywhere. I keep thinking that maybe my contact is misunderstanding me. Anyone know anyone who spends time on Technology Drive and can confirm if there is anywhere to lock up your bike? Come on PTC, let's join the rest of the world and be a bit more amenable to alternative transportation users!!

I looked on Google street view. It looks like there are no bike racks anywhere at all. However there are a lot of light posts and there is some sort of garage. Why would an area have bike racks that's next to a major trail? I think you're asking way too much.

hahaha.  I know.  I am high maintenance.  Thanks for checking Google.  I checked it too and had a similar issue.  I bike past it every morning on my way Downtown and just thought, "sweet.  I will go to the meeting since it is right on my way".  I may try to scout it out in person this weekend. Thanks!

maybe there is one in the parking garage?  Fingers crossed. most likely there isn't anything. Looks like RIDC sold it in 2014, so it is a private landlord.  The tenants would have to put pressure on the landlord to get anything built there. So annoying, because how much does it cost to get a crappy bike rack and throw it outside in some place that doesn't make sense (like most places do).  I mean, that's the minimum effort right there, and it still provides bike parking.

@Bthatch Park your bike in Downtown near 1st Ave Station on 1st Ave. opposite B St. and take the 56 Lincoln Place, 57 Hazelwood, or 58 Greenfield bus to Technology Dr. You can board these buses on 2nd Ave at B St.

I am working at Ansaldo (1000 Technology Drive). We have bike racks in our garage on the first floor.  Well, access is by badge but there is a way to get into without one. https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4342404,-79.967839,3a,75y,20.79h,87.12t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s4gFGcDiSfth6CSkQNkNQyg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 -- this is car entry to the garage and leftmost gate is shorted -- this pedestrian/bicycle entrance. It's under surveillance by our guards. It would work one time but I am sure about multiple times.   https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4317149,-79.9619574,3a,75y,32.02h,84.9t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s76s303NGRQHwOlnxAl8U8w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 -- this garage also has sbike rack but access to it is a little bit harder.   https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4311273,-79.9607492,3a,75y,181.52h,86.42t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sGTRN5ghQxb1ytcU59kb9wA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 -- Pitt BioMechanical building also have bike rack just outside of entry.   https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4326935,-79.9640126,3a,75y,268.91h,86.19t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sw_Mzg9lx12bfzI2llM1qQw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 -- I believe CMU a a bike rack but it's inside and monitored by guards (the same is true for https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4302239,-79.959369,3a,75y,137.59h,88.79t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s4UsbudeIRhKNuudXlBl0uA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 behind this building).

Hey guys, Thank you ALL for the feedback! Mikhail, I appreciate all the resources you offered.  I just wanted to update everyone that 2000 Technology Drive - aka Pittsburgh Technology Center offices DO have a bike rack out in front.  It is not very fancy, but is at least a spot to lock up your bike... especially considering the nearby light poles are way to thick to lock with anything more than a cable lock. Again, thank you all.  It is so nice to have this forum to help out one another.  I tried to paste a picture of the racks, but this system doesn't seem to let me.  Rest assured there is a small rack there. Thank you!!

Post your pictures elsewhere, grab the URL of the photo (starts with http, ends with .jpg or whatever), and then paste it in here as follows, substituting angle brackets (greater- and less-than signs) for the square ones shown here: [img src="http colon slash slash domain dot com slash path-to-your-photo"/]
