Post your headlight of choice!

In an effort to combat the Cycling Ninjas of Pittsburgh (CNP, if you will) hows about we share our favorite headlamps for bike/helmet attachment. Help anyone without a light decide whats right for them.

First person with PiAA lamps mounted to the front of their bike wins.

The B&M Lumotec IQ CYO (scroll most of the way down Peter White's headlight page) is my current fave. Dynamo-driven, but they have a battery-powered variant (the Ixon) that also gets good reviews.

The various MiNewt lights are good choices for portability and all-around usability.

No picture, but the Niterider Minewt 250. Cordless, super bright, and a charge lasts a decent amount of time.

Wow, talk about light envy... all I have is a simple cateye HL-EL135 which is more than adequate for being seen but wouldn't inspire a whole lot of confidence on fast night descents or trail riding. Oh and it is $15-20.

I use a combination of two DiNotte 200L lights along with a Princeton Tec Switchback 3

dmtroyer, I beg to differ... I have the same cat-eye and in near dark trail conditions, it's plenty of light to see the trail in front of me (as long as there is no black bear waiting for me fifteen feet away... or a CNP that suddenly slams on his brakes (assuming he didn't remove the brakes on his oh so cool "fixee" with brakes removed).

I actually have two of those on front and I set them both to blink simultaneously which gets the job one. I have the 5LED cateye on the rear of my bike and another 3LED on my Camelbak. When I have the funds I'm going to pick up one of those awesome planet-bike super blinkys.

I have the older two-piece MiNewt USB-rechargeable. It's about 3 years old and still packs a punch.

I also have a backup Blackburn 4 LED Flea, also rechargeable through USB that's been great so far:

I found the worst case for headlights wasn't when it was very dark, as on a trail, but rather when it was dark and cars were approaching from the opposite direction. For a totally dark ride, my Blackburn Quadrant and $30 Cateye were fine, but if I didn't want oncoming headlights to blind me, I had to add a Niterider MiNewt Mini-USB.

My MiNewt is also one of the older two-piece models. It's good, much brighter than the others, but the mount for the lamp on mine lets it slowly change directions, just a bit each time you hit a bump. And the light doesn't spread much, and isn't visible from the sides, so I only use it along with my Quadrant, which flashes to the sides too.

I use these two together:

the black one is about $20, and flashed really quickly, a bright white light.

The red one was <$5, my boss got it for me. It shines a pale blue-white and blinks a little slower.

On their own, neither are particularly fantastic (though certainly not bad either), but together they are pretty great.

I have a cygolite expilion 250. Pretty much the same as the minewt afsict - one piece, USB charge, similar price tag.

It is WAY brighter than the $20 light I used to use but also way more expensive.

i have something like this:

cburch knows which model and how bright mine is as compared to his. i love it. my stems are usually super short on my bikes though, so the battery overhangs, but it's not a problem.

Anyone have any magnetic induction lights? I've been thinking about getting a set, just because I keep forgetting to change my batteries / put headlights on.

Stefs light is 200 lumens. Mine (the one pictured) is 400. I'm getting another one so I can run helmet and bars in the woods at night. The cygolite setup is super light too. 240 grams including head unit, mount and battery.
