Shout out to Jerry

I just wanted to give a shout out to Jerry. I stopped at Kraynicks yesterday to get some accessories for my "new" bike: fenders and a back rack. I got there 10 minutes before closing (forgot it was at 4 and not 5) and the man wouldn't sell me a darn thing.

He knows the pace at which I work, figuring it out as I go along (as I don't have a pretty much any background knowledge of working on bikes), so he clearly knew I'd not have enough time to put everything, especially as my bike needed some extra attachments to fit these on. He told me to come next week when I'd have sufficient time to work. I was eager to just get the stuff and get it done, so I instead asked him if he had a bag to throw it all in, and just do it at home. He asked if I biked there and how far, determined that it was far enough, and was fairly insistent to not sell, kindly saying that as much as he'd like to make the sale, he's more concerned I make it home safe and that these items would be too awkward to bike with. Between work and play, I generally live by awkward, but I know that he was aware of the more prudent decision. I told him how much a appreciated that. He's a good man.

What a boss.

Hey, as an aside, what prices were those fenders and rack... I need to get the same, myself.

Well I believe he carries a couple different kinds of each. As for fenders, the ones appropriate to my bike I believe he quoted at around $22. I forget the cost of the rack, but there are a couple different styles of those as well. All together, I guess you could anticipate falling in the neighborhood of around $40.
