Slovak Bingo/East End Appalachian Jam All-Stars Ride - Sunday 12/23/12 11am

So, although I have a million things to do, with a very long period between now and when I'll be working again (semester break), I'm somewhat bored

So I looked up on the Post Gazette events page and found these two things:

"Slovak Bingo

Slovak Catholic Sokol Center

12/23/2012 1pm

Take part in some fun and exciting bingo on two floors and featuring a high-tech display board.

Bingo is a game of chance played with randomly drawn numbers which players match against numbers that have been pre-printed on 5-inch by 5-inch cards. The winner calls out the word "Bingo!" to alert the other players and caller of a possible win.

Proceeds benefit this nonprofit fraternal organization and its community projects."

and:

East End Appalachian Jam All-Stars

Carnegie Library Of Pittsburg

12/23/2012 2pm

Using fiddle, guitar, banjo and impressive vocals, this local band performs classic songs from the country's culturally rich Appalachia region, which runs from Pennsylvania to Georgia.

Appalachian music is derived from various European and African influences and was an important part of the American folk music revival of the 1960s.

===

So I'm thinking we could meet up at the Dino at 11am, ride around town, come back to check out this high tech Bingo board, get something to drink probably, then mosey on over to the library and hear some cool music and get more drink

Alternatively, I'll probably just be lying (can never remember the proper tense for that) about the house. This would be a good opportunity to get out and test out my new brake calipers

Sokol Club Bingo is apparently every Sunday and Tuesday: http://www.sokolclub.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49:sokol-club-bingo&catid=34:info-general&Itemid=37 (except, presumably, maybe, this Tuesday?)

The Pittsburgh Sokol Club is at 2912 East Carson St.

I wonder if anyone else is as amused as I am that the Appalachian Jam (and the other "World Kaleidoscope" concerts) happen in the Main Library's "Quiet Reading Room" ? http://www.carnegielibrary.org/events/details.cfm?event_id=69117

Aye, I was thinking that too buffalo

I think the way it normally works, from very little experience, is that you pay some money to get a couple of boards

I was thinking we could split up the boards and just do one or two rounds, which should go fairly quickly, then head off to the library, which, nice irony BTW, thanks for pointing that out :P

Might try to combine rides with Stu's festivus and perhaps bump up the start time to 12pm rather than 11

Still going to be over there by about 11, then go over to Friendship to meet Stu at 12

Cool idea. I would have joined you, but, I had other obligations today. :(
