I used to live in Ishpeming MI, which gets something on the order of 20 feet of snow a year. My best friend in 6th grade broke his arm skiing tjhe first week of may. Unusual even for there, but nto unheard of. If I moved back, I would want one of these things (with 27 gears, some of them ultra low, of course).

If you build one of these, I vote we have a special winter try-a-bike!

If I had the time and money, I'd definitely build some weird contraptions. A 27spd ski-bike sounds like a win to me! I'd also like to play around with one of those elliptical bikes; maybe I should just take up cross country skiing. LOL A mid-winter try-a-bike would be a nice break... ugh... snow. :( @mick, is a visit up that way desirable? I'm still living in Chicago and have never visited the upper-peninsula... maybe I will pack up the touring bike and make a visit up north (in the warmer months) before I move back this way.

@drewbacca - if you like natural beauty, camping next to spring fed lakes and (I've heard) some sweet new rail trails, it would be a great place to visit in the summer. If you really like snow and cold and surfing in slush while wearing artic wet suits, winter would be kinda cool (pun acknowledged) too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmlcOopMySE
