So, according to Nalgene, Pittsburgh is the 10th least wasteful city in the US

Interesting, given the number of people I've seen who chuck their trash anywhere they please. I guess it all depends on what you're really measuring.

Haha, given by the sheer amount of junk and beer bottles over the hill by the Anderson Bridge in South Oakland, I would argue with this statement...

From Nalgene site:

Thriftiness

Items Pittsburgh saves/reuses the most:

•90 percent leftovers

•85 percent boxes

•81 percent rubberbands

What the hell is a rubberband?

by these metrics an appropriate title might be more like... america's top 25 penny pinching cities... i do believe that pittsburgh could be 10 at that

Of course, without any sort of check, those with an inflated eco-ego (I just made that one up)will score themselves higher and the green scofflaws won't even bother to fill out the survey so the results will be skewed. but then again, they should all be skewed the same everywhere.

I prefer chicken skewers, but that's just me.

Pittsburghers tend to be thrifty, but recycling not so much. I'm pretty surprised that Pgh made it to #10.

Maybe people were answering that they put out very little trash for collection...but that's because they're dumping it down the side of a hill. :S
