Stolen: Blue late 50s woman's cruiser AMC-VI

As of this morning, my girlfriend's just bought (several days ago) bike was stolen from where it was locked at college and ellsworth.

Unfortunately I don't have a ton of details on the bike, as I hadn't gotten around to researching much about it. It's blue with some rust, fenders and a large wire basket on the front. It's a one-speed woman's bike, I would guess from the late 50s or early 60s. AMC-VI was written along the body.

It was U-locked to a parking meter, and there were another two bikes locked right next to it. By happenstance I had locked my bike a block up and it was untouched.

She's heartbroken because she can't really afford to by another right now, but she needs it to get to and from work. Any sightings or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

- Graham

Sorry to hear about this. Maybe the person she bought it from has a photo?

Also, the thieves broke a U-lock? Did they unbolt and lift the parking meter out of its hole and remove the bike that way?

I'm also curious to know how they defeated a u-lock.
