!!! Today, October 3 is Pittsburgh Day of Giving !!!
Hi everyone,
There's a really important date to circle on your calendars and that's October 3rd. That is the day that the Pittsburgh Foundation matches donations to local nonprofits. In the past it has been somewhere between 15 and 20 cents on the dollar. In addition to this match, Bike Pittsburgh lined up an additional $10,000 in matching funds to encourage more people to give on that day.
On Oct 3, please go to www.pittsburghgives.org and give to Bike Pittsburgh. In the past two years, we have ranked in the top 10 organizations (out of 600+) in terms of number of transactions given on that day. It would be amazing to make it into the top 5 this year, but we need you to help spread the word.
We will be coming out with a blog post very soon that we ask you to please share with your friends via email and social media. Every new donation makes you a member and if you're up for a membership renewal we'll honor that through the Pittsburgh Gives site. If you're a member in good standing, this will count as an additional donation, but will not renew your membership.
Please help us raise big bucks for bike/ped advocacy in Pittsburgh. Your support = more bikeways, racks, better transit access for bikes, crash support, fun events, and a seat at the table with elected officials.

If I make a donation on the Pittsburgh Gives site, and my membership is due for renewal, will the donation automatically be applied to renewal, or do I have to do something in particular?

well, not automatically. they send us a list and we run it through our database to see who is a new donor, who is up for renewal, and who is a member in good standing. so although it's not automatic, we will apply your donation toward membership. you'll receive your membership card within 2 weeks.
