This Saturday, Dec.1, 2012 is Global Fatbike Day. Fatbike rides are being organized around the globe, but I can’t find anything in Pgh.

Check it out here:

Anyone up for a ride?

Am definitely fat and a biker, but, following the link, I guess not a Fatbiker. Looks fun though.

talk to the guys and gals at thick. they are way into their fatbikes and would most likely be into doing a ride.

There was one of these on the Flock/Light-Up Ride a couple weeks ago. These would be great to bring to a Try-A-Bike.

I’d also like to see if they fit in a bus bike rack. I think so, but some of those tires might be a tight fit.

my kona ute cargo bike didnt fit in a bus rack… the tires are pretty wide (700×47 or apparently also 28×1.75, according to the sidewall) but they werent the problem; the wheelbase was too long to sit securely. despite this issue, its still a sweet bike (and for sale :-D christmas is coming)

@stu,

That was me. This one does not fit the bus racks. Not even close.

Erica, you better watch out for all those stray dogs (re: bikers) hanging around your kitchen door.

I see her chopping up the bacon wrapped meatloaf and throwing chunks out back as the bikers scurry around and fight over the pieces.

A couple bus rack designs have an open end, which would accommodate a long-wheelbase rack, but there’s no guarantee that you might get one of them to carry your cargo bike.

For fatbikes, my greater concern is tire width. And it sounds like that’s a problem.

Seems like that comment is going to hound Erica.

@jonawebb. I see her chopping up the bacon wrapped meatloaf and throwing chunks out back as the bikers scurry around and fight over the pieces.

On fixies.

Kinda like bike polo, but not as civilized.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked,

dragging themselves through the bloomfield streets at dawn looking for bacon wrapped meatloaf.

@rice rocket

I had a Karate Monkey with Kenda nevegals (2.1 i think), and it was a tight squeeze, I had to push the tires down into the rack. PITA, but it was secure.
