While the minimum number of bikes one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Ahhh, coming from Stu, I assumed it was a grammatical observation.

As for Rule 12, there should be a sub-ordinate clause that says something to the effect that:

12a: Wasteful ownership of multiple bicycles having duplicate function should be minimized by the effective sharing of resources (e.g. sale of duplicate.)

I have a second folder. I am keeping one, selling the one that is likely to get the most use.

Rule 12 is not truly applicable as I am not losing function or performance.

And, if I make room in my basement, perhaps I can add function with my next +1.
