MORE INFO COMING SOON!!
Let’s salute Odin & to Valhalla we ride!
- This topic was modified 3 years, 6 months ago by bikeygirl.
I’m in. I still have a bottle of wine from last year!
Saw an advertisement for a new show on the History Channel for inspiration, Vikings, starting Monday. Get inspired. There will be beards.
What to bring:
Mead! (for hydration, not intoxication).
Snacks! (plundering depletes vital energy reserves).
Food&Drink for the potluck (villages may have already been ravished).
Our ship lacks a galley, this is a BYOG (bring your own grill) event.
Plundering a convenience store along the ride is an option (please bring currency).
Trashbags! (for your plunder… and well, trash).
there… fixed! ;)
More pics from previous years!
Here are some great photos that Dan took from the ride our first year.
Actually, there is a grill on-site, so no need to bring a grill….. more like bring stuff to grill -veggies or meat, all ok!
Unfortunately, I won’t be around… but I’d so bring the biggest chicken drum-sticks and/or ribs I could find for a viking bbq!
Checking the weather, looks like saturday will be the first “nicer” dry day we’ll have to ride all week, with even some sun!
If you’re up for a mellow ride, come on down!
I’m 90% sure we’ll only do the 10-mile flat route
I’m also 100% sure that it’ll be a fun potluck afterwards!
Bring something to share, or some money -we always stop by a grocery store to buy whatever else we might need!
Potluck usually goes until sunset
Due to weather it gets cold hanging there (at potluck site), so bring something to warm up. We also try to keep a good fire to stay warm
I’m also almost a 100% sure that the “VIKING POTLUCK” is the first outdoor grill/gathering in that park :)
SO let’s call out to Valhalla and the goddesses & gods of spring!
PS: If you’re planning on maybe coming, please post in here so I can do some proper-prepping!
95% sure I’ll be there. I still have a bottle of wine from last year’s potluck!
I acquired a somewhat cool Viking-type thingy today so I am definitely going to be there on Saturday. Also a friend from down near Cumberland, MD is coming in for the the pillaging and plundering.
Eric the Red rules!
I wish this event had a Facebook page. It makes it so much easier to invite folks.
So I need some quick and dirty ideas for Viking attire. If I make it, all of my prep is going to happen Saturday morning because I’m slammed at work right now.
So what have other people worn in the past?
(a) I’m in the process of creating a FB page, will post here soon.
(b) While viking attire is encouraged, IT IS NOT REQUIRED….. I would rather have people show up and have a good ride & potluck than not show up because they couldn’t get a viking outfit ready…
and as for what people have work in the past, check the online album from a previous ride….
Facebook Event Page:
Are we doing long route or short route?
It appears that the weather will be good.
Thanks for coming!
While sunny tomorrow the temperatures are still nippy, so short route would be better, I think. PLUS, more time for pillaging & potluck-ing!
Work cleared up but now I’m sick. Staying home under blankets to pout :(
Viking-Biking ride was a success!!! Thank you to everyone that came!!! :D
