World Serious

Whether or not anyone in this town cares about the baseball, a little reason to root for the SF Giants and against W's former team:

"When the San Francisco Giants began planning for their new downtown baseball stadium in the early 1990s, many neighbors expressed concerns about the traffic that a new ballpark would generate. To alleviate these objections, the Giants developed a comprehensive transportation management plan, which included excellent access to light rail, commuter rail, and ferries. The plan also included a first for major league baseball: indoor, secure, staffed bike parking."

Something to think about for the old home town.

I've walked around AT&T park. It is extremely pedestrian friendly, right on the water.. beautiful views of a bunch of sailboats. Never parked my bike there, but I heard good things about the valet.

As old Gomer would say, "Surprise! Surprise!".

I only go to a few games a year, but find it easy to lock my beater to a parking meter on the street outside PNC Park. Still, bike parking would be nicer. But how much?

Free, but I'm sure they would be much happier if you gave them a couple bucks.

A co-worker of mine went to a Pirates game not too long ago. Locked their bikes (2) outside the stadium. Came out after the game to find their bikes gone. We need better parking at OUR stadium! One more are in which SF is way ahead of us....

There's a bike rack tucked away adjacent to Gate A and a long row of three rivers racks down by the PGH police boathouse. The problem isn't the number of facilities, but the programming of it; racks are placed as an afterthought or by misunderestimation.

You think if there's a bike / ped trail passing the ballpark, then placing parking facilities along the trail would be prudent. However, that doesn't seem to be the primary bike arterial in practice.
