Would you stop a bike thief?

Yep. They totally ripped off those guys, and tossed in a race card for good measure. I wonder how much of this was editing, or the fancypants neighborhood they were in. That black kid could have been walking down the street chewing gum and those country club folks would have called 911.

sometimes if i don't have a lock i just disable the brakes on my bike...might lose the bike, but one less bike thief.

Yeah, that and I open the quick release on the front wheel.

Hmm, maybe I won't fix Amy's bike then. Its biggest mechanical problem is an absence of connectedness between the three outer sprockets on the cassette and the hub. Inner three work fine. I rode it in the April Flock ride and Sunday's pool ride; runs fine otherwise. But it would sure screw up a thief, whose foot would fly off the pedal and shin be eaten by the pedal, and probably wreck, as soon as he got up to some speed.

Industrial bolt cutters my ass. Need 24" at least for that chain. I'd question anyone unlocking anything without a key.
