WTB: MTB wheels (maybe more?)

Hey all, I recently acquired an old mountain bike frame that I think I'd like to build up to use as an all-purpose machine (grocery-getting, Flocking, trail-a-bike pulling, etc). I don't have much in the way of parts to use, so I'm on the hunt for inexpensive bits and pieces. Does anyone have a wheelset that you'd like to get rid of? I'm looking for an 8-speed. I need other parts too (handlebar, stem). Thanks!

I have a decent 26" front wheel that I could pass along, it is nutted, not quick release, but that might be preferable for a city beater. Nothing for the back tho. I have a pile of handlebars I would love to thin. Do you want flat mtn type bars? Steel OK? Is the headset a quill type or threadless? I don't think I have any of either to offer but it would help others to know.

Thanks, edmonds! I'll PM you. The headset is a quill type, but I'm thinking of getting one of those adapters that let you use a "modern" stem.

If you want cheap parts for a beater, I recommend Kraynick's and/or Free Ride. I've never gone to Kraynick's for wheels, but I hear he has a decent selection. As for Free Ride, we tend to get a fair amount of MTB parts donated, but they usually require a little attention to become rideable. If you're willing/able to spend a few minutes repacking a hub and trueing a rim, you might find a good deal. The rear wheel selection will be hit-or-miss. Drop-in Classes are a good resource if you need to learn any basic wrenching skills.

I somehow forgot about Kraynick's. I will pay him a visit for sure.
