SURVEY: Bicycle service on Amtrak- Pittsburgh to DC

The Allegheny Trail Alliance is trying to determine if there is interest in Amtrak expanding it’s service to more easily accommodate bicycles.

Currently, there is very limited opportunity for bicycle transportation on Amtrak’s Capitol Limited route, which parallels the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Towpath between Washington, DC and Pittsburgh, PA. At only DC and Pittsburgh, a boxed, partially disassembled bicycle can be brought onboard or taken off as checked baggage for a fee of $5 plus an additional $15 to purchase a box if you do not bring your own.

This survey attempts to determine how much consumer interest there is for Amtrak to expand upon its bicycle service on the Capitol Limited route.
