PG: Neville Island velodrome will feature World Cycling League races next year

Island 200 indoor velodrome due to open this spring

Amateur bicycle racing will begin this summer at Island 200, the velodrome under construction on Neville Island, supporters of the project announced today.

Those preliminary competitions at the 200-meter indoor track will lay the groundwork for the introduction of “Speedtrak” team racing next year by the newly formed World Cycling League.

Speedtrak Cycling, a proprietary bike-racing format featuring teams of 11 men and women riders, will begin in October 2015, Robert Gottlieb, the developer of Island 200, said in a statement.
