The City of Pittsburgh is hiring a Mobility Engineer!

Have you always wanted to work at Pittsburgh’s Department of City Planning? Do you have a background in Civil Engineering? The new Mobility Engineer will focus on the movement of people through the city with an emphasis on pedestrian, cyclists, and the disabled.

This position will work closely with the City’s bike/ped coordinator to design bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure improvements, traffic calming elements, and ADA improvements. Furthermore it’s pretty safe to say you’ll be working with some of the Bike Pittsburgh team.

Position Duties Include:

• Designs and manages the construction of bicycle and pedestrian improvements in coordination with the City’s Bicycle Pedestrian Coordinator in the Department of City Planning.
• Designs and manages the construction of traffic calming elements in accordance with City policy and in coordination with the Department of City Planning.
• Designs and manages the construction of ADA improvements, including curb ramps, removal of steps or other obstructions and accessible traffic signal improvements.
• Coordinates with state and federal agencies on projects receiving outside funding. (This includes managing federal and state funded traffic improvement projects including managing the procurement of consultants and conduct of state and federally funded traffic studies and engineering projects.)
• Assists in supervising and directing the design and/or management of construction of simple and complex, unstructured, multi-disciplined City Capital projects in assigned specialized area (e.g., community facilities, traffic and streets).
• Provides technical assistance to staff on complex traffic problems establishing analytical concepts and design criteria, ensuring adherence to latest applicable traffic analysis procedures and design standards.
