Student-turned-instructor, Carrie Tippen, wrote about her transformative experience in BikePGH’s Confident City Cycling program:

I’ve always been afraid of biking on roads with cars. Through BikePGH’s city cycling program, I had the opportunity to conquer my fears.

I learned how to navigate intersections, start and stop confidently, and take the lane.

For me, biking is a lot about undoing the lessons of ‘girl training.’ You’re always worried about other people and trying to be out of the way. On a bike, I’m doing the opposite. I’m looking out for my safety and owning my part of the road.

That was really powerful.

Join me in giving back to BikePGH for introducing something to my life and yours, and making our city a better place to live and ride.

You can Shape the Future of Our Streets. Donate today.

PS. I was really glad that the class was $15.

I know donations make it possible for BikePGH to offer classes at an affordable price. That’s why I’m a sustaining monthly member – to make sure everybody has access to the same opportunities that helped me start biking. Become a member.
