Hi Pittsburghkidd.The trail you see after the Squirrel Hill tunnel on the parkway looking to ypur left is the Eliza Furnace trail (better known as the jail trail).

Access
I am new to riding and am wondering how I can access a particular trail. As I ride into town from Penn Hills I see it on my left after the Sq Hill tunnel and people are walking and riding on it. Any ideas?

It can be accessed from: a parking lot off Second Avenue, underneath the over pass at Bate St, by the jail at Golden Triangle Bike rental, and at Grant St.
It can also be accessed from the Southside by crossing the Hot Metal bike/ped bridge.

If you wanted to access it from Penn Hills by bike, get to 5th and Neville somehow, then make a left (down) on Neville. Keep going down teh valley (variety of rd names), then the trail entrance will be on your left.
